What does BDS mean in UNCLASSIFIED

BDS stands for Bullying, Deception, and Sabotage. It is a type of workplace bullying characterized by the intent to harm someone else using deception or sabotage in order to achieve a desired outcome.

Examples of BDS include offensive comments or behavior intended to belittle another person; spreading malicious rumors; purposefully delaying projects; sabotaging equipment; withholding important information; and lying about the performance of others.

The consequences for engaging in BDS can be severe. Victims may suffer from physical and mental health issues such as stress and anxiety due to their experience with BDS. In addition, employers may have grounds to terminate an employee who has been found guilty of engaging in such behavior.

To protect yourself against BDS there are several steps you can take. Be aware of your rights as an employee - such as knowing that it is illegal for employers to discriminate against protected classes such as those based on race, religion, gender identity etc., Keep clear records of any harassment you experience so that you have evidence if needed later on; don't retaliate but instead tell an appropriate supervisor if you feel comfortable doing so; document all communication with supervisors related to any wrongdoing you experience; make sure any complaints made with HR are written down in case they need reference at a later time; consult legal counsel if your situation escalates beyond what you feel comfortable handling internally within your organization.
