What does TSA mean in UNIVERSITIES

The Technology Students Association (TSA) is a professional student organization dedicated to preparing members for leadership roles in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related fields. Our focus is to promote STEM related activities while engaging our members in a vast array of competitive events and activities.

To join TSA you must first locate a local chapter at your school or in your area. From there, contact the sponsor of that particular chapter who will provide you with further information regarding meeting times and payment of dues.

TSA offers several national-level competitions such as Dragster Design, Flight Endurance, Game Design/Simulation Programming, Robotics Design, System Control Technology, Prepared Presentation and Video Game Design. Each event is designed to test knowledge and skills relating to specific aspects of STEM topics.

In addition to participating in competitive events, members also have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through attending leadership conferences and participating in service projects within their community. Members have access to resources such as scholarships, internships and technologies which can help them as they pursue higher education or professional careers.

Generally most chapters require an annual membership fee which varies by chapter. However, this should not deter one from joining because most chapters host fundraisers throughout the school year to assist with covering fees for those who cannot afford it.

Depending on the results achieved in each competition from across the country awards such as medals and trophies are given out at each level beginning with state level progressing all the way up to national level recognition. Additionally some competitions offer monetary prizes for exceptional achievements throughout each event season both at regional and national levels.

Absolutely! Being an active member of such an organization puts you ahead of others when considering college applications because you garner experience within different areas of STEM that can be showcased via internships or volunteer work during summer breaks or college tours. Furthermore being part of the larger nationwide organization gives colleges insight into various projects you may have been involved with during your time as a member.

Yes there is an age limit which ranges from 14-18 years old depending on the region in order for one’s participation count towards overall scores at regional/national events as well as receiving expected benefits associated with being an official member.
