What does NDA mean in ACADEMIC & SCIENCE

Newark Digital Academy (NDA) is an educational model developed by the Newark Public Schools to provide students with a world-class education through innovative approaches to learning. Through blended and personalized learning, NDA offers cornerstone courses in math, language arts, science and social studies, blended with enrichment courses in music, art and technology.

NDA serves students in grades 6-12 from the Newark Public School district.

NDA utilizes data-driven assessment tools and personalized instruction pathways to ensure that each student's individual needs are met. This includes targeting areas of strength as well as challenges within the curriculum. Differentiation also provides flexible instructional delivery for our students who may need additional support or enrichment opportunities for mastery of content standards.

Yes! In addition to providing core classes such as Math, Science and Language Arts, NDA also offers a wide range of electives and enrichment activities to engage our students academically beyond general education classes. These include courses such as Music Theory & Performance, Intro to Computer Programming, Global Studies and more.

All current Newark Public Schools Students in grades 6-12 are automatically eligible for enrollment in NDA. Students outside of the district may apply via a lottery system typically conducted annually during Spring (April – May). No! At least two days per week, students attending school virtually will report to their respective "learning hubs" located throughout the city of Newark where they can receive assistance from teachers/counselors when needed while accessing high speed internet connections for their online courses.

Yes! At the high school level, students can complete after school programs led by staff members which consists of college readiness workshops that cover topics such as career exploration and financial literacy seminars along with various internships offered throughout the year.
