What does AATP mean in ASIAN

The Asian American Theater Project (AATP) is a non-profit group dedicated to fostering and promoting the development of increased visibility and participation of Asian Americans in theater, film, television, and other media. It provides networking opportunities, educational resources, performances, and critical dialogues among Asian American artists and audiences.

AATP provides platforms for artists to showcase their work through public events such as workshops, readings, talks, and performances. These events create a space where Asian Americans can come together to learn from one another and to see their stories represented on stage or screen. AATP also works with local theater companies to help them develop shows that feature Asian American actors, as well as providing mentorship programs for youth interested in pursuing careers in performing arts.

Our membership includes industry professionals such as actors, writers, directors, producers; theater lovers; artists from all kinds of disciplines; educators; students; and anyone else passionate about increasing visibility for Asian Americans in the performing arts!

Yes! We run several educational programs throughout the year such as workshops on developing your acting craft or self-producing your own projects. We also offer internships at many different theaters around the country that are focusing on producing or showcasing work featuring Asian-American talent.

At AATP we strongly believe in supporting independent filmmakers working within our community by offering them resources related to filmmaking such as workshops discussing budgeting skills, scriptwriting techniques or post production tips. Additionally we provide peer networking group meetings for feedback on scripts or connections with theaters willing to exhibit their work after completion.

Yes! We regularly host auditions for actors seeking opportunities within theatre companies that specialize in presenting culturally diverse works written by or featuring people from an ethnic minority background. Auditions typically take place at various locations around the country so make sure you keep an eye out when we announce new audition notifications either through social media or email notifications from us!
