What does MFBA mean in STATE & LOCAL

The Missouri Food Bank Association (MFBA) is a nonprofit organization that works to reduce hunger and improve nutrition by providing food and resources to local food banks throughout the state. We are dedicated to advancing our mission through advocacy, public awareness, education and collaboration.

MFBA provides leadership, resources, advocacy and support for six regional food banks located across the state of Missouri. We also collaborate with several local agencies such as churches, pantries and community organizations to ensure access to healthy meals for those in need.

There are many ways you can get involved with MFBA! You can volunteer at one of our regional food banks or pantries; donate funds or food items directly to us; join our advocacy efforts; or even organize a fundraising event in your community. Yes, most volunteer positions at MFBA require volunteers who are 18 years or older. However, there are some opportunities that we offer that do not require volunteers to be over 18 so please feel free to contact us if you would like more information about these opportunities.

Your donation helps us provide nutritious meals to those in need by helping us purchase food that can be distributed through our network of regional food banks and other partner agencies throughout the state of Missouri. Your generous contributions also enable us to provide education and increase public awareness on hunger related issues affecting our state.

Yes, we accept donations from outside Missouri and we greatly appreciate any support received from individuals or businesses anywhere in the United States! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about donating from outside of Missouri.

There is no right or wrong time when it comes to donating as every dollar counts towards supporting our mission! However, during certain times such as holidays or summer months donations may be especially needed due to an increased demand for goods and services from individuals in need.

Monetary donations are always welcome but we also gladly accept nonperishable foods such as canned goods, grains and cereals; toiletry items such as shampoo, toothpaste and laundry detergent; baby items such as diapers and formula; pet supplies such as canned dog/cat food; hygiene products such as soap, deodorant etc.; new clothing items; household items etc. For a complete list of accepted items please visit our website!
