What does MFBA mean in UNCLASSIFIED

MFBA stands for the Multilevel Fragment Based Approach. It is a method of describing and analyzing complex systems using fragment-based approaches.

Fragment based approaches allow us to better understand how components and relationships within a system interact with each other, allowing us to develop more precise models, improve our understanding of the system, and identify potential opportunities or areas of inefficiencies.

The benefits of using MFBA include improved accuracy in analysis of complex systems due to increased precision in modeling component interactions; enhanced knowledge about relationships between components; identification of efficiencies as well as potential opportunities within the system; and increased agility in responding to changes in system dynamics.

The Multilevel Fragment Based Approach can be used for analyzing all types of complex systems ranging from economic markets, supply chains, transportation networks, electrical power grids, communication networks, genetic regulatory networks etc.

Applying the approach requires defining fragments (elements or parts) which constitute the system under investigation as well as their relationships with each other (interactions). Then individual elements need to be evaluated on various levels such as structure level (dealing with internal processes), behavioural level (dealing with dynamic properties) and/or performance level which allows assessing goals achieved by different sub-systems.
