What does ADRI mean in RESEARCH

The Asian Demographic Research Institute (ADRI) is a research institute dedicated to understanding demographic trends and their implications in Asia and globally. ADRI aims to provide policy makers, practitioners, and other stakeholders with reliable data analysis and evidence-based solutions through its research activities. Additionally, ADRI seeks to collaborate with local partners in order to build capacity in terms of population development, elderly care, health services and family planning in East Asia.

The ADRI conducts applied socio-demographic research that uses a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods. This includes but is not limited to surveys, interview protocols, simulation models and geographical information systems (GIS). Our research focuses on topics such as aging populations, fertility behaviors & family planning policies, migration patterns & their economic impacts, health status & health services utilization among others.

The primary goal of the ADRI is to promote evidence-based policies for sustainable development in East Asia by exploring the impact of social changes on population dynamics and vice versa. To achieve this goal we engage in both theoretical research as well as empirical studies which make use of an array of analytical tools. Our ultimate objective is to bridge the gap between theory and practice by providing rigorous yet practical solutions which can be implemented by governments and civil society organizations alike.

In order to ensure our findings are relevant and applicable beyond academia, we strive to synergize our theoretical knowledge with on-the-ground realities at all times. We thus believe it is essential to collaboratively work with national governments, NGOs and other stakeholders when researching or writing policy analyses or documents for advocacy campaigns etcetera. We therefore prioritize establishing mutually beneficial partnerships which bring together our expertise with local insights or resources for greater impact.
