What does ADRI mean in DEVELOPMENT

Mission

The mission of ADRI is to promote Asian development through research that combines policy analysis with approaches from economics, sociology, demography and other fields. It seeks to support sustainable development in Asia by providing reliable data for evidence based policy making. The institute strives to bring together key stakeholders from public and private sectors including relevant departments of governments, non-government organisations, civil societies, academics and think tanks.

Objectives

The main objectives of ADRI are to enhance economic growth and promote regional co-operation in Asia by providing high quality research; identifying critical issues that affect the region’s development; supporting effective policymaking across governmental agencies; developing capacity building programmes for professionals working in development fields; advocating greater transparency of public policies; exchanging knowledge with other international organisations; organising international conferences where experts can share their experiences; disseminating findings through publications in both print and digital formats.

Activities/Research Areas

The institute carries out its activities through a variety of research projects across different sectors such as agriculture, health care, education, environment protection, economic reforms, employment reform etc. Apart from these areas it also focuses on topics such as gender equality, urbanisation challenges , poverty alleviation strategies etc. Furthermore it conducts surveys regularly which aim at understanding the socio-economic conditions prevailing in various parts of Asia. Moreover it collaborates with universities , government institutions , national think tanks andother development organisations in order to exchange information , strengthen networks between stakeholders .
