What does ADMI mean in INSTITUTES

The Autism Developmental Medicine Institute (ADMI) is a research and care center dedicated to advancing our understanding of developmental disabilities, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ADMI is located at the Children’s Hospital in Seattle, Washington and works closely with major universities and medical centers in the area. ADMI’s mission is to improve the lives of people with ASD through innovative research, clinical care, community education and advocacy.

Services at ADMI are open to individuals of all ages, from infants to adults, who have been diagnosed with autism or other developmental disorders including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Fragile X Syndrome and Down Syndrome. Caregivers of any age may also receive services at ADMI.

ADMI provides diagnostic evaluations for developmental delays or learning disabilities, as well as individualized treatment plans that may include Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, speech-language therapy, occupational therapy and/or physical therapy. Additionally, they offer social skills groups for children 6 - 12 years old to help them navigate school systems and other social settings.

To obtain a referral for an evaluation or diagnosis from ADMI you will need to contact your healthcare provider and discuss their recommendation for further evaluation. It is important to note that referrals should be made by a licensed healthcare professional such as a pediatrician or psychiatrist.

Results from evaluations conducted at ADMI usually take approximately two weeks to come back once all necessary information has been submitted by the referring healthcare provider. However this timeline may vary depending on the complexity of the case being evaluated.

Yes! In addition to providing diagnostic assessments and treatment plans, ADMI offers family support services which include parent education classes, workshops on topics such as behavior management techniques; counseling sessions; resources such as books and websites related to ASD; peer interaction; educational events; activities; and support groups for families affected by ASD.

Yes! Most insurance carriers will cover some or all of the costs associated with evaluation services provided by ADMI depending on your particular plan coverage level. It is recommended that patients contact their current insurer prior to scheduling an appointment in order to know what out-of-pocket expenses may be expected.

Yes! At times when financial hardship prevents families from paying full cost out-of-pocket fees associated with care provided by ADMIM different sources may be available depending upon your family's unique situation including sliding scale fees supported through grants and fundraising efforts.
