What Is CTCA?

Computerized tomography coronary angiogram or CTCA uses advanced x-ray technology to capture detailed 3D images of the heart and its vessels. This imaging procedure can detect major anatomic structures such as; arteries, valves, chambers, etc., which makes it an invaluable investigative tool in assessing cardiovascular health, thereby enabling more definitive diagnosis and management. During this procedure, the patient will be injected with a special contrast material through an IV line which aids in visualizing the smaller features on the x-ray images clearly.
