What does CPD mean in LEADERSHIP

CPD stands for Continued Professional Development and it refers to the process of honing and updating skills and knowledge through regular self-directed learning activities. By engaging in regular CPD, professionals are able to stay up to date on industry trends, remain competitive in their fields, and meet any required standards set by their employer or licensing body.

Professionals from all sectors should actively seek out ways to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. From lawyers, architects, accountants, doctors, engineers, IT professionals - all these professions need some form of ongoing professional development in order to remain on top of their game.

This depends upon your profession and/or professional association you belong to. Some professional associations may require members to have a certain number of hours completed each year while others may not. It is best practice however for every professional regardless if it is compulsory or not, to take part in regular CPD activities as an effective way of staying up-to-date with industry changes.

Any number of activities can be counted towards your CPD. Examples include attending conferences or webinars; completing seminars or online courses; reading articles from journals or magazines; mentoring other colleagues; joining relevant group discussions online; as well as conducting research and presenting papers at conferences.

Depending on your profession there might be specific requirements as far as how often you need to update your qualifications but generally speaking most organizations would prefer that you keep up with any changes within the field and maintain accurate records at all times.

Generally course fees are charged however there may be some programs which offer free access such as online webinars or e-learning modules which are available without charge depending on the institution providing them. It’s always best practice to check directly with providers before signing up for any courses which require a fee payment beforehand.

You will need documentation showing what activities were undertaken including details such as duration of activity; learning objectives achieved; start date & finish date; title & description of activity etc… This information will then be used when submitting proof to accrediting bodies or employers when requested regarding evidence of professional development achieved during that time period.

Depending on each profession there are different methods used when submitting evidence regarding qualifications earned throughout the duration of employment or membership period with an organization such as internal assessments, external exams etc… It is important however that each point earnt is logged into a database system which keeps track of all qualifications earned during that period so they can easily be accessed whenever requested.
