What does CFA mean in CAMPUS

A Campus Family Ambassador serves as a bridge between the college, its students, and their families. They help make sure that incoming freshmen are connected with resources they need to succeed in academics, social life, and beyond. They also provide guidance to families in understanding college expectations and processes.

Any undergraduate student who meets certain requirements can become a CFA. Requirements vary from school to school but typically include being in good academic standing, having previous leadership or volunteer experience, or previously attending orientation or other special events for students and/or parents.

CFAs typically receive training in communication skills, event planning, budget management, public relations and more. This type of training ensures they are prepared to fulfill their role of building relationships with various stakeholders on campus while providing high quality customer service to family members visiting campus.

Being a Campus Family Ambassador is an ongoing commitment because it's an important role throughout each school year at many universities. Usually CFAs must commit for one full academic year which includes attending meetings, participating in programs and events such as orientation or parent weekends throughout the course of the year.

Though volunteering as part of this program typically does not offer financial compensation some universities may offer benefits such as paid travel expenses or course credits for certain commitments under special circumstances.
