What does AALG mean in ACADEMIC & SCIENCE

The Academic Advising Leadership Group (AALG) seeks to foster leadership among educators and administrators who are dedicated to student success and provide guidance for professionals in the advising field. We strive to support academic advisors by providing resources, advocacy, and professional development opportunities.

Our members come from a variety of backgrounds; however all members must demonstrate a commitment to student success and a sincere interest in their development as professionals. You may qualify for membership if you are currently employed as an advisor or administrator in a college/university or community-based organization. Additionally, any individual interested in the advancement of advising professionals is eligible to join AALG.

Membership dues vary depending on what type of membership you choose; however our standard membership fee is $49 per year.

Yes! All members have access to AALG resources including online publications, webinars, and special events. Members also have the opportunity to network with other advisors from around the country through our online community forum and virtual conferences.

At AALG we work hard to ensure that advisors' voices are heard when making important decisions at their respective institutions. We advocate both legislationally and institutionally by partnering with policy makers and higher education officials to ensure that advisors' contributions are highlighted and respected as part of campus culture.

Yes! We offer many different learning opportunities such as webinars, conference calls, workshops, seminars, discussion groups, etc., all geared towards helping advisors advance their skillset while staying up-to-date with best practices in their field.

Absolutely! Through our online career center we facilitate connections between employers and advisor candidates whose skills match what they're looking for. Our career center is packed with available positions from across the nation so you can find an advising role that matches your interests wherever you may be located!

This program recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in advising throughout their respective careers. Recipients receive acknowledgement from both within their local community as well as nationally through recognition via social media channels like our Twitter page @AcademicAdvLdrGrp. Winners will also receive complimentary admission into one of AALGs national conferences!
