Operations

The primary focus of the BPS is to reduce crime in our community by proactively working together with citizens and businesses within our service area to prevent as much crime as possible. Through investigations, enforcement initiatives such as road checks and traffic stops, crime prevention programs and initiatives such as Neighbourhood Watch, youth programs, Senior Safety Programs, Crime Stoppers Program and many more services are offered through their support and partnerships with other community agencies and organizations within our city. Working together with these partners helps ensure the safety of all citizens within our area by working on an effective strategy to combat crime trends at any given time.

Vision & Values

The vision of BPS is to “provide excellent service while supporting a safe, secure environment for all members of our community” while their values focus on four key points; Respect - Treating everyone with dignity; Integrity - Operating ethically; Professionalism - Acting at a high standard; Innovation – Striving for creative solutions. In addition to these values they strive for collaboration between organizations within the City of Barrie to promote integration across their fields related overlapping objectives through open dialogue, information sharing and proactive problem solving strategies related to crime trends throughout the city which are regularly monitored both online through social media feeds as well as on-scene interactions between officers assigned throughout various divisions within BPS operations.
