What does HLU mean in SOFTWARE

Horizontal LookUp (HLU) is the process of searching through the contents of a database table by comparing one item of data to another. It typically involves finding specific documents within a database table by matching similar data points from one document to another.

When using HLU, a database program searches through every row of data in a database table to look for matches between items being searched for and the corresponding columns containing that data. The program then collects all matching rows and lists them out as search results.

Most modern relational databases support HLUs, including MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, IBM DB2, and other popular RDBMSs (Relational Database Management Systems). Additionally, many web browsers now offer native support for horizontal lookups via their URL text box or address bar autocomplete feature.
