What does FMB mean in CYCLING

Freeride mountain bikers typically use technical terrain with natural features such as jumps, drops, and other obstacles that require precision handling and maneuvering. Constructed trails may also be used but they must adhere to the same standards as natural terrain with similar features.

The primary goal of freeride mountain biking is to test riding skills while pushing boundaries in order to achieve a desired trick or stunt within a given timeframe. Riders must be aware of their surroundings and maintain control throughout their run in order to minimize risk and maximize performance.

Freeride mountain biking has been growing rapidly over the past few decades and is now one of the most popular forms of off-road cycling. Thanks to its intense yet rewarding nature, many professional riders have honed their skills through this discipline.

Even though FMB often involves high speeds and risky maneuvers, all riders should wear protective equipment such as helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves, full-face respirators/masks, mouth guards, eye protection (goggles), long-sleeve shirts/jackets/pants with abrasion protection etc.. Additionally it's recommended that a first aid kit always be readily available.
