What does BPA mean in BUSINESS

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a career and technical student organization for high school, middle school, college and post-secondary students. It was founded in 1966 to promote business and professional excellence among students. BPA encourages personal development through leadership activities, educational programs and competitive events that provide recognition and achievement opportunities in the fields of office administration, finance, accounting, management information systems and business management.

Membership in Business Professionals of America is open to any middle school, high school or post-secondary student enrolled in a program related to business or information technology education.

There are no academic requirements for joining BPA membership; however all members must be enrolled in an eligible program related to business or information technology.

Yes, there is an annual dues fee associated with joining the organization at each level. Middle School dues include both the national membership fee as well as State/Regional membership. High School dues include national, state/regional as well as chapter dues which vary by geographic areas. Post-Secondary members will pay dues based on their level of participation (i.e., advisor only or advisor & delegates). Additional fees may also apply for registration into competitive events or travel expenses associated with attending conferences and meetings.

The activities vary based on your level of involvement within the organization but generally consists of leadership activities such as officer positions within a chapter, committees and community service projects; educational programs such as regional conferences; as well as competitive events which test your knowledge in different categories such as public speaking, accounting principles and management information systems just to name a few.
