The Bristol Stool Chart is a tool used to classify types of human feces into seven categories. It was developed by Dr. Stephen Lewis and Dr. Ken Heaton at the University of Bristol and is based on shape, size, and texture of stool samples.

The seven types of stools in the Bristol Stool Chart are Type 1 (Separate Hard Lumps), Type 2 (Sausage-shaped but lumpy), Type 3 (Like a Sausage with cracks on its surface), Type 4 (Like a Sausage or Snake smooth and soft), Type 5 (Soft Blobs with clear cut edges),Type 6 (Mushy consistency with ragged edges) and Type 7 (Watery with no solid pieces).

The Bristol Stool Chart can be used to assess how healthy your digestion process is based on what type of stool you have. The chart can also help your doctor diagnose certain digestive issues such as irritable bowel syndrome or constipation.

If you have type 1 stool, it means that your stool has separate hard lumps that look like little pellets. This may indicate that you are not digesting your food properly and need to make dietary changes to improve digestion.

If you have type 2 stool, it means that your stool is sausage-shaped but lumpy. This could be an indication of a slowing digestive system or incomplete absorption of nutrients from food due to poor diet or medical conditions like celiac disease or pancreatic insufficiency disorders.

If you have type 4 stool, it means that your poop looks like a sausage or snake - smooth and soft - which generally indicates normal digestion process without any major issues.
