What does SOT mean in SCHOOLS

Overview of SOT

School Organizational Teams are collaborative groups comprised of parents, teachers, staff members, instructional leaders, and other school personnel. The goal of the SOT is to create a comprehensive plan that tailors to the individual needs of each student in order to ensure their academic success. Generally this plan includes both short term and long-term objectives such as curriculum delivery strategies, assessment of student progress, communication strategies with parents and guardians, as well as addressing safety and discipline issues.

Benefits of SOT

The collaborative nature of the SOT helps foster a more transparent relationship between parents and teachers in order to ensure students receive the best possible education. By working together, an SOT can devise solutions that remedy potential problems before they become too difficult to address. Often times when an issue arises within the school system it may be hard for administrators or other staff members alone to rectify the issue; however when multiple parties work together they can create innovative solutions that benefit not only individual students but all involved parties within the school environment. In addition, by having all stakeholders involved with decision-making processes, there is better accountability among those responsible for carrying out whatever plans have been formulated by the SOT.
