What does AIRCA mean in EDUCATIONAL

AIRCA stands for Association of International Research and Development Centers for Agriculture. It is a non-governmental professional organization that brings together major agricultural research and development centers from all over the world to promote global food security through research, development, and capacity building initiatives.

AIRCA works to catalyse collaborative efforts between research institutions, government agencies, universities, private sector organizations, civil society groups, and other partners in order to enhance food security at local, regional and global levels. This includes developing new policies and approaches in support of sustainable agricultural systems as well as promoting improved access to knowledge and resources for agricultural development initiatives worldwide.

Membership of AIRCA is open to any institute or center conducting research on agriculture related issues. These include public sector national agricultural research systems (NARS), international agricultural research centers (IARCs) such as CGIAR centers, universities, businesses involved in production or processing of agricultural products, private sector companies working in the field of agriculture-related technologies or services and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with an interest in food security related issues.

By being an AIRCA member organisations benefit from opportunities to collaborate with peers from across the globe; exchange experiences on best practices; co-develop strategies for development; build networks; access additional resources; receive training opportunities; gain access to information on relevant projects or events hosted by other members; participate in regional meetings organised by the association; provide input into policy discussions on emerging issues in agriculture and many more.

To become a member you must submit an application form along with supporting documentation outlining your organisation's mission statement as well as its activities relating to agriculture research & development. Once approved by the board of directors you will receive an invitation letter confirming your membership status.

The membership fee depends on the type of organisation applying for membership. It ranges from USD 150 - 500 per annum depending on whether the organisation has a commercial purpose or not.

All members are required to adhere to AIRCA’s guiding principles which include committing to promote global food security through enhanced collaboration between members targeting gender equity when designing projects/programmes/activities managing natural resources sustainably while fostering technological innovation within their fields amongst others.
