A program of the Yale Center for International and Professional Experience (CIPE), YIF offers students the opportunity for meaningful conversation, diverse perspectives, and collaboration in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
Who can attend YIF?
YIF is open to students currently enrolled in college or university programs. Additionally, recent graduates (defined as having graduated within the past 3 years) are also eligible to apply.
What are the different tracks available during YIF 2020?
For 2020, we will be offering seven tracks including Arts & Culture; Business & Entrepreneurship; Global Health & Science; Politics, Society, & Environment; Technology & Innovation; Understanding Religion in a Globalized World; and World Literature.
How long is YIF?
The program runs from July 11-August 7, 2020 with a one day orientation on Sunday July 12th followed by sessions every morning from Monday through Friday until August 6th.
What will happen during each day?
Each day contains different activities including panel discussions with experts on global topics, debates between participants on current issues impacting society, student-presented workshops involving hands-on learning activities related to their chosen track's theme, unstructured time for mentorship sessions facilitated by alumni as well as getaways for cultural exploration and relaxation.
What kind of cultural exploration activities are included?
The cultural exploration activities vary depending on what cities we visit but they typically involve visits to historical sites, museum tours or exhibitions displaying artwork from within the region. Additionally we provide opportunities for volunteering either with recognized non-profits or playing sports with locals giving our participants an avenue to engage directly with their host community members outside of YIF’s expected framework of structured activities.
Is this program open to international students as well?
Yes! We do have some limited spots available specifically for international students who are currently studying abroad within North America.
