What does WYST mean in YOUTH

World Youth Sailing Trust (WYST) is a charitable organization dedicated to providing access to sailing and maritime education for young people in underprivileged communities all around the world. We provide resources, advocacy, and technical support for youth sailing development projects in underserved areas.

The mission of WYST is to create new opportunities and open up access to sailing education for young people in underprivileged communities worldwide. We strive to create equal opportunities for young sailors regardless of their heritage or socio-economic backgrounds.

WYST helps young people by providing them with resources, support, and training in order to develop their sailing skills and foster a strong connection with water sports in general. Through our projects, we teach participants about safety, social responsibility, team building, and leadership skills that are essential for becoming successful sailors. Our goal is not only to teach these skills but also to empower youth from all backgrounds by giving them the opportunity to compete on an international level.

WYST provides educational programs such as training courses, workshops, summer camps and international competitions. Furthermore, we offer technical assistance such as boat funding & grant writing services, access to certified instructors & crews plus logistics planning for all our programs. Last but not least we carry out research into ways in which sailing opportunities can be expanded - this includes identifying potential areas of investment & development whilst also developing a global network for knowledge sharing amongst like-minded organisations worldwide.

Yes! Our partners include major international sailing organizations such as The International Sailing Federation (ISAF), The Royal Yacht Association (RYA), Richard Feichter's International Network for Young Sailor Society (INFYS) as well as local non-governmental organisations such as Sail Now Foundation (USA) or Nereus Youth Sailing Initiative (Nigeria). These partnerships enable us to better reach disadvantaged communities around the world and provide them with quality sailing programs tailored specifically towards their needs.

If you're interested in getting involved with one of our projects you can either volunteer your time or apply for one of our opportunities at wysttrust.org/projects. We offer both short term positions such as internships or working temporarily on board one of project boats, or longer commitments like managing an entire program from start to finish.
