History
The WWA was founded by Vince McMahon Jr., Ted Turner, and Jim Crockett in 1978. McMahon Jr., who had previously been managing World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF), saw potential in an organization that catered exclusively to professional wrestling. At first, WWA promoted a few smaller independent shows around the United States, but eventually began booking larger events with several wrestlers from across the country appearing. This helped establish them as one of the leading promotions within the industry and they continued to grow through the 1980s and 1990s.
Events
Some of their most successful events include WrestleMania I, II, III, IV, V, X8, XIX, XXIV, Royal Rumble 2002 through 2011, and Survivor Series 1998-2018. The WWA also held its own annual pay-per-view called Global Extravaganza which featured some of their biggest stars such as Hulk Hogan and John Cena. Along with this event there have been many other specialties show such as King of The Ring 1995-2002 and No Mercy 2001 through 2007 which were both well received by fans all over the world.
