What does WM mean in UNCLASSIFIED

West Marches is a style of D&D Adventure that involves a large self-organizing group of players in the exploration of a distant region. Instead of having one or two dungeon masters, multiple players run their own adventures and explore an ever-expanding world where no one knows what secrets await them.

Anyone who is interested in playing Dungeons and Dragons and enjoys the exploration aspect of the game is welcome to join in on West Marches games. Usually groups are planned for anywhere from 6-10+ players, so there's plenty of room for friends to come together and experience this unique form of D&D.

West Marches games usually involve lots of character interaction, puzzles, and problem solving; all while exploring the unknown within this fantastical setting. As the name implies, you will be travelling westward in search for anything your adventurous heart desires - adventure, treasure, knowledge!

For the most part, sessions tend to occur twice monthly with times varying depending on when each group schedules it. It's not uncommon for some groups to schedule more or less frequently depending on availability and preference. Players are also welcome to set up independent one-shots or mini-campaigns outside of these scheduled times if need be.

While there isn't necessarily a specific level requirement to join in on West Marches games, it's important that all characters have created with basic understanding how 5th edition works. This includes understanding core mechanics such as advantage/disadvantage, movement rules, spell casting rules and common combat techniques.

Rewards will vary depending on each mission accomplished within the world; but generally speaking you should expect character development points earned with each session acclaimed (either through XP or DM rewards) as well as tangible rewards such as loot or magic items found along the way!

Absolutely! As long as your story progresses separately from another’s original quest (but still ties into that same region), then there’s nothing stopping you from creating your own narrative parallel to others. While it’s encouraged to collaborate with other players when possible, feel free to branch out completely independently should you wish!
