What Does WLA Stand For

WLA stands for World Lacrosse Association. This internationally recognized organization is responsible for overseeing and advancing the sport of lacrosse throughout the world. It was founded in 2012 with a mission to spread awareness and create opportunities for players around the world to experience this dynamic game. As part of its objective, it also facilitates various tournaments, leagues, and events that involve international teams from different countries or regions.

Goals of WLA:The primary goals of the WLA are to increase participation in the sport around the world, develop rules and regulations for international competitions, develop standards for coaches and referees, provide educational resources on coaching and officiating techniques, and facilitate growth within existing lacrosse programs around the world. The WLA recognizes that lacrosse has different cultural nuances depending on where it is played throughout the world; as such it makes efforts to work with associations from different countries to cultivate an effective environment conducive to sustainable growth everywhere possible.

Structure Of The WLA:The WLA operates under a board of directors comprised of representatives from National Governing Bodies (NGBs). Each NGB has one voting member on board who is responsible for making important decisions related to policy changes or amendments that affect each respective country’s individual program or team when applicable. In addition to its Board of Directors, there are various committees which oversee specific functions such as discipline, communications & marketing, development & education, finance & audit etc., whose purpose is to ensure smooth operations within their respective areas of expertise within the association.
