What does WJF mean in SPORTS

The World Judo Federation (WJF) is an international governing body for judo, responsible for organizing and overseeing judo across the world. It is also responsible for promoting and protecting the interests of athletes, coaches, referees and others involved in the sport.

The WJF works to promote judo by organizing annual World Championships to bring attention to the sport. Additionally, it works with national federations and clubs to run campaigns, tournaments and events that help spread awareness about the global nature of judo.

Currently, there are 191 National Federations affiliated with the WJF representing nearly every continent across the globe.

Yes, WJF has a number of external partners such as International Sports Federations (IFs), National Governing Bodies (NGBs) or Olympic Committees (OCs) who collaborate with us in order to grow and develop judo worldwide.

WJF offers numerous awards throughout the year which recognize outstanding achievement by individuals within all areas of judo including athletes, coaches, referees and volunteers. Our awards include honorary diplomas, medals and certificates of honour.

The WJF has two main organisational roles; a governing body role which includes overseeing all aspects of judo around the world; as well as a promotional role which involves organising marketing campaigns and promoting judo activities both domestically and internationally.
