History
World's First Broadcasting Regiment was established in 1911 by the British military. It was composed of six companies spread out across Europe as part of a larger British Army Network. At its peak, the regiment had over 230 members and was divided into three main sections: Wireless Telegraphy; Radio Telephony; and Communications Engineering. The regiment operated a number of communication systems including telegraphy and Morse code as well as early experimental analogue radio equipment. The WFBG also developed techniques for using these new technologies which allowed them to improve their long-distance communications capabilities and increase their coverage over large areas quickly.
Successes
WFBG's successes mainly consisted in keeping soldiers informed with real-time news from the front lines during World War I and II, but other significant achievements included developing innovative methods for bettering communication between different branches of the military and abroad, increasing efficiency, extending communication range across vast distances and improving radio communications between air squadrons. Furthermore, their research resulted in two new transmissions models that were adopted by most militaries around the world — Amplitude Modulation (AM) and Frequency Modulation (FM). All these advancements helped modernize warfare during some of history's most tumultuous times.
