What does WDA mean in ACADEMIC & SCIENCE

Wisconsin Developmental Academy (WDA) is an educational program designed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison to provide students in grades K-12 with specialized instruction and support.

WDA works to enhance each student's individual learning needs and future potential through academic, behavioral, emotional, and social interventions. Therefore, any student who needs extra assistance in any of those areas could potentially benefit from enrollment in WDA.

The program primarily takes place at a variety of community sites throughout Madison and Dane County, including schools, libraries, recreation centers, and churches. In certain cases, students may also receive instruction or services in their homes or other locations as needed.

Instruction focuses on academic subjects such as reading comprehension skills and mathematics as well as non-academic topics such as self-advocacy and independent living skills. Students also have access to special services such as speech therapy or job skills training if needed.

Typically, students will remain enrolled for one year but can enroll for multiple years if desired or necessary for continued progress.
