What does WBTA mean in SPORTS

The Washington Bridle Trails Association (WBTA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting equestrian access to trails in Washington state. This organization works with county, state, and federal agencies assisting in the acquisition, improvement, and maintenance of public trails for the benefit of all trail users.

The WBTA was founded in 1997 and since then has worked tirelessly to ensure horseback riders have access to safe and enjoyable public trails throughout the state.

The WBTA offers a variety of activities each year ranging from educational seminars on horsemanship topics to fun trail rides and competitions. We also host an annual "Ride For A Reason" community fundraiser supporting organizations doing great work for horses in our area.

Any person interested in preserving equestrian access to public trails can become a member of the WBTA. Members come from all walks of life – from recreational riders and families with small children to competitive riders looking for new challenges. We welcome everyone!

Becoming a member gives you discounts on trail rides, events, educational seminars, membership incentives like t-shirts and more! You will also have voting privileges at our annual meetings as well as access to exclusive resources such as bulletin boards where you can stay informed about trail openings/closures due to weather conditions or construction projects.

There are many ways to contribute. You can become a sponsor by making a donation or volunteering at one of our events or donating materials for trail repairs. You can also spread awareness about WBTA’s mission and activity by telling your family members, friends, neighbors, colleagues etc.

Generally we are open year-round but because this is an outdoor activity there are some months that we may be closed due to weather conditions or insufficient daylight/night hours. We strongly suggest that people check our website before scheduling any ride just in case we have any closures during their visit.

No prior riding experience is required; however basic knowledge regarding horse behavior along with riding basics should be known by any rider regardless of age. Safety should always come first so if someone does not possess these skills they must learn them beforehand using resources such as certified instructors or online courses that provide that information so everyone can enjoy their ride safely.
