What does WARM mean in ASSOCIATIONS

The Wood Association of Richmond Metro (WARM) is a non-profit organization that works to promote sustainable wood products in the Greater Richmond area. We are dedicated to educating consumers and manufacturers about the responsible use of natural resources, while increasing access to high-quality woodworking materials.

WARM works closely with local organizations and government agencies to research and advocate for better forest policies. Our programs create meaningful economic opportunities in forestry while protecting critical ecosystems and promoting sustainable harvesting practices. We also hold workshops and seminars to help teach people how to build furniture from responsibly harvested wood.

WARM offers a variety of services tailored towards both individuals and businesses. We provide resources on topics like woodworking safety, responsible sourcing, design techniques, sawmill operations, and more. Additionally, we have a network of certified mills around Richmond where customers can purchase pre-cut lumber or custom order specialty pieces.

While our primary focus is on promoting sustainable wood products in the Great Richmond Area, we also have partners located across Virginia who share our values. As an organization, we strive to be an example by identifying ways to reduce our environmental impact statewide – from advocating for smart forestry policies at the legislative level to organizing volunteer cleanups along riversides.

There are many ways you can get involved with WARM! Our website has a list of programs you can join such as tree planting days or neighborhood cleanup events. Yes – donations are tax deductible as allowed by law as long as they are made payable to “Wood Association of Richmond Metro” (WARM). Please note that Warms reserves the right to refuse donations that do not align with its mission.

All ages are welcome at most workshops/seminars hosted by WARM but some classes might require participants be over 18 years old due to safety concerns related with certain activities. Please make sure you read class description carefully before signing up.
