What does ABS mean in NAVY

An Able-Bodied Seaman (ABS) is a professional mariner with high safety requirements who works onboard ships, particularly commercial vessels. They are responsible for the maintenance, operation and safe navigation of the vessel. ABS must be knowledgeable about firefighting techniques, vessel operations and functioning of specific machinery on board.
