Voices of the Bosnian Genocide is a project dedicated to recognizing and preserving stories from survivors and witnesses of the genocide in Bosnia. We aim to document their experiences through interviews, allowing them a platform to tell their stories and be heard.

Voices of the Bosnian Genocide was founded in 2017 by two former victims of sexual violence during the war in former Yugoslavia who are now living and working abroad outside their home country. Their goal was to remember and recognize the hundreds of thousands of civilians who were victims during this tragic period.

It is important that we remember what happened in Bosnia so that future generations will not forget this tragedy but rather work towards preventing it from ever happening again. Remembering and educating ourselves about this significant event allows us to create meaningful dialogue surrounding it without minimizing its scope or impact.

We provide a range of content such as interviews with survivors, personal testimonies, research papers, presentations on topics such as women's rights violations during wartime, discussion boards about post-war reconstruction efforts, and more. Our mission is to promote education and human rights advocacy for all affected by conflict worldwide.

VOBG has conducted interviews with survivors from all walks of life ranging in age from young children to elderly adults who experienced extreme suffering during this period in history due to their gender identity, ethnicity or religious beliefs among other factors. Many people have shared their stories through essays, diaries or memoirs allowing others to bear witness to their experiences before they go forgotten forever.

Yes! VOBG regularly hosts educational lectures related to genocide prevention and trauma recovery among other topics; film screenings documenting survivor stories; digital symposiums focusing on various themes including justice issues affecting survivors today; panel discussions connecting experts from around the world; as well as other smaller workshops promoting healing through art and self-expression amongst many other initiatives. While VOBG does not offer direct counselling services itself it works closely with a network local NGOs providing specialized psychosocial support programs designed specifically for traumatic stress commonly associated with mass violence situations faced both during wartime as well as postwar eras throughout countries like Bosnia & Herzegovina.
