What does BFNA mean in NURSING

BFNAs must undergo intensive training in order to become qualified. This includes basic military tactics, such as navigation and survival skills, as well as first-aid procedures. In addition to this, they must also complete specialized training specific to battlefield nursing care and emergency management.

To become a BFNA, individuals must have already completed their RN qualification. They must then pass an examination by the American Academy of Nursing before they are allowed to begin their specialized training. Additionally, they must be physically fit and able to operate under stressful battlefield conditions without losing focus or composure.

A typical day for a BFNA involves providing triage for wounded soldiers at casualty collection points, administering first aid and fluids, making diagnoses or providing referrals where necessary, stabilizing patients until evacuation services arrive, performing minor surgery if necessary, providing emotional support and psychological counseling to personnel under fire, as well as carrying out essential duties such as setting up field hospitals or managing supplies and equipment.
