AB Rail Investments Incorporated was founded in 1995 by investor Robert Faith with the acquisition of a minority stake in VIA Rail Canada. In 1998, ABRX acquired full ownership of two short-line freight railways in northern Ontario: Algoma Central Railway (ACR) and Huron Central Railway (HCRY).
