Ventura County has a five-member Board of Supervisors, each representing one district, who form the governing body of the county. The board sets policy, approves budgets and adopts ordinances and resolutions in order to fulfill its responsibilities to its residents.

The economy of Ventura County is diverse and includes agriculture, oil production, manufacturing, technology services and retail trade as some of its major economic drivers. It has a population estimated at over 850 thousand people according to the 2020 census estimate with majority being hispanic or latino residents making up 52% percent followed by white not Hispanic or Latino residents making up 41%.

The cities included in Ventura County are Ojai, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Ventura with Oxnard being its largest city situated along the Pacific Coast Highway making up for almost half of the total population residing inside this county.

There are many attractions found within this area such as Six Flags Magic Mountain theme park, Los Padres National Forest which provides hiking trails and campgrounds, Point Mugu State Park which offers outdoor activities like kayaking or fishing alongside its beach area, Channel Islands National Park that provides numerous sea life viewings on boat tours among other attractions found throughout this beautiful coastal region.
