What does URT mean in MILITARY

User Requirements Testing (URT) is a process of validating if the user requirements set by a project team are met before the software development begins. It assesses the functionality, usability, and compliance requirements of an application to ensure that it meet user expectations.

The URT process involves four steps - requirement analysis, requirement review, requirement validation and documentation review. During requirement analysis stage, the existing system is analysed to identify any potential issues that could be encountered during development. During requirement review stage, the identified issues are discussed with stakeholders to assess if they can be addressed or not. During validation stage, test cases are created to verify whether the requirements have been met or not. Finally, during documentation review stage the existing documentation is checked for accuracy against user requirements.

By conducting User Requirements Testing early on in software projects, any issues found can be quickly identified and rectified before development begins which helps reduce overall costs associated with development. Early identification and resolution of issues saves time as well as costs associated with potential re-writes or misconfigured components which would result in extensive testing costs as well as lost time on delivery deadlines.

Other types of testing such as Integration testing or System Testing focus mainly on technical aspects while URT focuses mainly on non-functional requirements such as usability and business logic related requirements that are not assessed in these other types of tests. Additionally, URT often involves assessing existing systems for potential issues which may arise in later stages while integration tests need to be designed for that purpose specifically.

Any stakeholders involved with a project should be involved in some way during the various phases of User Requirements Testing process - users who will use the application should provide their feedback at every stage; developers/testers should formulate test cases and execute them; product managers should create detailed feature specifications; designers should make sure all functionalities are properly designed; and so on.

Documents required for conducting successful User Requirements Tests include requirements document detailing feature specifications from each stakeholder, a traceability matrix detailing how individual feature maps to its corresponding source document entry (if applicable), test plan detailings how tests should be conducted; test cases listing out pre-requisites and expected outcomes; data flow diagram showing input/outputs between system components; potentially an use case diagram outlining end user scenarios; etc.

Metrics used to measure performance during Usability Requirement Tests tasks include defect density per features (number of defects per functions tested), total number defects found corrected over period (per month); average time taken to fix defects identified through testing; customer satisfaction rate based on user feedback collected post-launch etc.
