UPIK was established in 2009 with just 20 students enrolled in its first academic year. Over the years, the institute has expanded rapidly – currently offering seven programmes that cater to the knowledge requirements across different levels of expertise. Its primary goal is equipping industry players with specialised skillsets needed for effective exploration and exploitation of resources from natural reserves. Curriculum
At UPIK, students are exposed to a range of concepts from core principles to advanced theories associated with petroleum engineering technology. The courses offered are divided into two categories – Undergraduate programmes (Bachelor's degree) and Postgraduate programmes (Master's degree). Under the Bachelor’s programme category, students may select any one course from four distinct short-duration trainings - Oil & Gas Technology Diploma (OGTD), Petroleum Economics Certificate Course (PECC), Petroleum Extension X-Certificate Course (PEXC), or Petroleum Geology Diploma (PGD).
