What does UMY mean in RELIGION

United Methodist Youth (UMY) is a collective of young people who are committed to pursuing lives of faith, leadership, and service in the Christian tradition. UMY seeks to share the good news of Jesus Christ through mission work, seasonal retreats, summer camps and special events that engage in social justice issues.

UM Youth is open to young people aged 13-18. Participation can continue into college as a student leader or staff member at our youth events.

Joining UMY is easy! All you have to do is contact your local church for information about their youth programming and how you can get involved. UMY also has an online presence – check out our website and social media pages for more up-to-date information on events, activities and volunteer opportunities!

Yes! Three times each year we offer seasonally based retreats for our members - Fall Retreat (September - October), Winter Retreat (January - March) and Summer Camp (May - July). These events provide meaningful opportunities to connect with other youth from around the area while engaging in spiritual development activities that explore a variety of topics from art to social justice.

Yes! Throughout the course of the year, United Methodist Youth holds several special events including community service projects, monthly youth lock-ins, mission trips both domestic and international and more. No, there are no costs associated with joining United Methodist Youth – all we ask is that you come with an open heart ready to learn new things! Costs may be associated with specific events such as retreats or mission trips which will be outlined in detail when they are announced on our website or social media outlets.

United Methodist Youth offers a variety of activities that focus on both spiritual growth as well as developing leadership skills through discussion forums, Bible studies, team building exercises and much more. We also host special occasions like movie nights or game nights every once in awhile too!

Yes – parental involvement is highly encouraged within United Methodist Youth as it provides encouragement for young people to continue exploring their faith journey under trusted adult supervision. Parents are invited to attend meetings when possible as well as participate in various volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Not necessarily – though it certainly helps if your local church does have an active youth program already established so you can join right away without having to figure out ways to get started by yourself! However if there isn’t already a program established then don’t fret – just reach out directly to us via email or phone so we can help find ways for you to get involved with your peers in other congregations around the area.

While we invite all those interested regardless of their level of commitment at first – joining United Methodist Youth requires adhering to certain standards set by us such as upholding the values set forth by The Book Of Discipline regarding personal conduct while participating in activities hosted by us or attending one of our programs/events etc… We also expect members abide by safety regulations while taking part in team building activities etc...
