History

The Upper Merion Aquatic Club (UMAC) was founded in 1971 by a group of parents who wanted to offer their children the opportunity to participate in competitive swimming at the local level. They decided to form a swim team that would be focused on building teamwork, skill development, and healthy competition. With the help of donations from the community and fundraising efforts by parents, UMAC was created. In its nearly 50-year history, UMAC has earned multiple state championships and sent numerous swimmers to collegiate teams around the country.

Programs Offered

UMAC offers three different programs depending on age and ability level. The first program is Swim School which introduces new swimmers aged 4-10 years old to competitive swimming through teaching basic techniques such as freestyle stroke development, dives off the blocks and starts from the wall. The second program is Age Group which caters to 11-18 year olds with varying ability levels looking for improved technique while still having some fun with friends during practice. Finally, Senior Group caters to 19+ year olds interested in honing their skills even further by learning advanced drills used by college swimmers across America. All UMAC teams have access to certified coaches who can work with swimmers one-on-one or help them perfect their technique on certain drills during practice sessions.
