What does UHU mean in UNIONS

The United Hockey Union (UHU) is an international ice hockey governing body, responsible for the management and development of ice hockey throughout the world. UHU works to promote fair play, sportsmanship, and respect among players of all ages and abilities.

The UHU includes representatives from member countries, including ice hockey governing bodies, national teams, clubs, players’ associations, media outlets and sponsors. UHU members come together to create and develop international competitions and events that bring together passionate fans of the sport.

UHU organizes and promotes several major international tournaments for both men’s and women’s teams each year. These include World Championships for Senior Men's Division I-III, Junior Men's Division I-III; World Championships for Women's Division II-III; Continental Cup; Challenge Cup; Champions Hockey League; European Trophy; Euro Ice Hockey Challenge; World Junior Championship from U20-18 levels; World Player Development Camps; and more.

They have established a zero-tolerance policy towards violence or any form of discrimination towards other players or officials. Furthermore, they have also created an ethics committee which investigates any reported incidents involving behaviour outside the rules regarding respect for other participants.

Player associations around the world are key partners in helping set regulations for all tournaments organized or sanctioned by UHU. Representatives from these associations collaborate with UHU officials on specific topics such as safety regulations, rules of conduct on and off ice surfaces, doping policies etc., ensuring that players are always respected while having fun playing hockey at a high level.
