The Apprentice Boys of Derry originated from an organisation founded in 1795 by thirteen young apprentices in the city of Londonderry (or Derry) in Northern Ireland. They formed the organisation to commemorate their heroic defense against Jacobite forces and Irish revolutionaries during the siege of 1688-1689, which became known as The Glorious Revolution.
