What does TPTS mean in ACADEMIC & SCIENCE

The Training Program in Translational Science (TPTS) is an interdisciplinary graduate education and research training program, designed to prepare a new generation of scientists for creative and innovative work in translational science. Yes! Internships offer students direct experiences in environments relevant to their studies while providing valuable exposure to potential employers or mentors upon graduation. Internships provide hands-on learning opportunities that supplement knowledge gained through classroom assignments and activities. All participants must successfully pass an internship experience prior to completing the degree elsewhere specified by a faculty advisor that can count towards their graduation requirements but does not have to be taken away from campus if necessary.

Yes! All admitted applicants receive support grants during their first two years at no cost; there are additional opportunities for funding available throughout your duration of study including tuition reimbursements for doctoral fellowships obtained externally as well as internally funded scholarships specifically available for members of underrepresented minorities, individuals with disabilities, veterans, DACA recipients or those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Other avenues such as competitive awards extend beyond tuition costs providing stipends covering living expenses while doing dissertation research. It is important to note however that these sources may be limited so it is best practice to apply early.
