What does TLC mean in SCOUTING

TLC stands for Troop Leaders Council. It is a group of adult volunteers responsible for setting the standards and policies for the program, as well as providing mentorship and guidance to its members.

The TLC is usually composed of a board or committee of volunteer adult leaders within an organizational setting. These leaders have been chosen by their peers in order to provide a strong leadership framework for the organization.

Members of the Troop Leaders Council are responsible for supporting and guiding their troop with assistance in organizing activities, overseeing progress, and providing resources needed for success. They also serve as liaisons between troops, families, chartered organizations, district committees, other councils, national offices, and other outside partners by developing sustained relationships with key contacts involved in scouting programs or services across multiple levels.

Depending on your organization's structure, you may be invited to participate by current members or appointed by higher authorities to be part of the council. In some cases however applicants may need to complete an application process before they can join the council.

By joining the Troop Leaders Council you have an important role in enabling positive change within your local scouting community; in addition to gaining new skills such as communication, problem-solving and leadership which can then be applied both within scouting and other areas of life outside it.
