What does TEMSA mean in NAVY

TEMSA stands for Teleman (mailman) Seaman Apprentice. It is a military designation used to identify enlisted personnel in the U.S. Navy that are responsible for various duties related to postal delivery and communication, as well as other general assignments when needed.

In order to become a TEMSA, an individual must meet the physical eligibility criteria set forth by the U.S. Navy. This includes being able to pass an eye exam, hearing test, and physical fitness tests such as running and push-ups among others. Additionally, applicants must be between 17-22 years old with at least 3 months of paid military service before applying for TEMSA position specifically.

The primary duty of a TEMSA is mail delivery within naval installations, which involves sorting and distributing mail throughout different departments within the base or ship where they work on board. Other duties include handling official documents such as business letters, forms or packages; packing cargo such as weapons or ammunition; preparing vehicles for transfer; assisting with communications systems such as phones, faxes or radios; helping to manage ships stores; making supply requisitions; dispatching helicopters; performing office administration tasks such as filing papers or using computers; preparing reports; providing assistance in laboratory experiments aboard ships; participating in shore patrol exercises while on liberty at sea; engaging in morale activities like community outreach projects while on shore duty.

Upon being accepted into the U.S Navy program, all new recruits go through basic recruit training which lasts 8 weeks long and focuses on teaching them about physical fitness, military customs and courtesies, basic first aid skills along with drill instructions before receiving their formalized instruction regarding their specific specialty which includes hands-on experience related to their mail specialist role in addition to technical instruction from experienced instructors familiar with all aspects of postal operations.
