What does TEIS mean in UNCLASSIFIED

Services provided through TEIS include screenings, referrals, evaluations, audits and reviews, therapeutic interventions, case management services, support groups and workshops for parents/caregivers, intervention planning meetings, service coordination activities, transitional planning activities, and home visits.

Eligibility criteria vary depending on the child's age. Generally speaking, any child aged 0-3 who displays or is at risk of a developmental delay or disability may be eligible for the program. Additionally, families must meet certain financial eligibility requirements in order to qualify for these services.

Service providers match each family's needs with an individualized service plan that includes goals based on the family's strengths and needs. The service plan reflects which therapies should be provided at home or in another community setting (e.g., a preschool setting). Services are typically delivered by certified therapists such as Occupational Therapists (OTs), Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs), Physical Therapists (PTs), Special Education Teachers (SETs), Behavior Analysts (BAs), Registered Dietitians (RDs), Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW).

Families can contact their local Early Intervention Team to enroll their child in the program. Parents will need to provide necessary documents such as medical notes/reports about your child's condition in order for them to assess whether your child is indeed eligible for this program. After determining eligibility, families can receive necessary services from participating service providers across the state of Tennessee.
