What is SSV?

Super Strong Velcro (SSV) is a type of fastener developed by the Velcro Industrial Corporation. It was designed as a stronger alternative to standard velcro, with increased tensile strength, shear resistance and peel strength. The product contains two materials that interlock with tiny hooks and loops when pressed together – one material contains small hooks while the second contains looped “fuzz” fibers. When these two pieces are engaged, they create an extremely strong bond that resists abrasion and can hold up to 55 pounds per square inch (psi).
