What does SSRP mean in ACADEMIC & SCIENCE

The Summer Science Research Program (SSRP) is an enriching experience for undergraduates interested in exploring fields of science. It provides hands-on research opportunities at leading scientific institutions around the world and encourages meaningful collaborations with professionals in that field.

Students who are going into their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies are eligible to apply for the SSRP. Applicants must have a current GPA of 3.2 or higher, have already taken some courses related to the research topic they wish to pursue, and be available to participate full-time during their allocated summer period.

Students participating in the SSRP will be assigned a 10-week summer period from June through August. During this time, they are expected to actively participate in their chosen projects which should include planning and goal setting, researching topics related to their project, and preparing publications or presentations on their findings.

Each year, hundreds of research projects are open for applications from SSRP participants from various areas of science including medicine, physics, computer science, engineering and more. Projects can range from working on basic scientific questions within established laboratories supervised by responsible scientists, to more independent studies self-initiated by applicants linked with professional networks like universities or other higher educational institutions.

Participating students are provided with financial support throughout their 10 weeks as well as mentoring and guidance from experienced researchers throughout the duration of the program. Additionally they receive social activities, workshops by engaging professionals and special lectures designed especially for program participants.
