What is SSGC

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is the largest integrated gas network company in Pakistan that operates in four provinces of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. It mainly focuses on three core businesses; exploration and production (E&P), transportation, and distribution of natural gas. The company was founded in 1954 as a joint venture between the government of Pakistan and six British companies as part of the larger Sui Gas Project. It has since then grown into one of the most reliable energy companies in the country with over 790 thousand kilometres pipeline network serving more than 9 million consumers every day. The company owns and operates over 5500 wells that produce up to 2200 thousand cubic feet per day (MMscfd). Its pipelines stretch from South Balochistan to North Punjab with 16 compressor stations installed along them for smooth flow of natural gas. SSGC is also responsible for distributing Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders to domestic consumers at subsidized rates as well as supplying low-cost bulk LPG for commercial users through its Bulk Supply System (BSS). It also screens compressed natural gas (CNG) stations located within its service area for compliance with safety regulations imposed by the provincial governments.
