What does SILC mean in LEADERSHIP

SILC is an intensive professional development program that equips educators to assume leadership roles within their school, district or region. The program empowers participants to become highly skilled leaders with the skills and knowledge to have a powerful impact on student achievement. SILC members are expected to demonstrate high levels of professional proficiency in areas such as instructional leadership, curriculum, assessment, technology integration, and school improvement planning.

Through the SILC program, participants attend seminars and workshops led by experts in their respective fields. Topics covered include instruction coaching, student achievement analysis, data-driven decision making, research-based best practices, human resources management, budgeting and communication strategies. In addition to attending the seminars and workshops offered by the program, members engage in constructive discussions with each other and use tools for reflection and self-assessment.

Any education professional who has at least five years of teaching experience and currently works in the field of education can apply for membership. Applicants must have a strong commitment to educational leadership and be willing to dedicate time outside of their regular job duties for additional training sessions and meetings related to SILC activities.

A typical Silc membership takes about two years for completion. During this time, members attend monthly trainings as well as complete relevant projects assigned by Silc mentors or sponsors. Members will also produce action plans that reflect their growth through this process which will be presented during graduation ceremonies at the end of their tenure.
