What does SHFT mean in SCOUTING

SHFT stands for Survival, Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping. It is a way of life that is focused on providing food and shelter from wild resources found in nature.

Anyone can learn to practice SHFT if they have access to outdoor spaces and resources. Those who are more experienced might use SHTF skills for self-sufficiency or for recreation purposes as part of their regular routines.

In order to live off the land with practices such as hunting fishing, trapping, and gathering wild plants and herbs you'll need an array of tools including knives, fish hooks, lures or bait, nets or snares, gardening tools and other supplies depending on what type of materials you're looking for.

Practicing SHFT improves your connection to nature by allowing you to understand how environment naturally works. It also helps you become self-sufficient by relying less on store-bought items through crafting your own supplies out in the wild as well as provides mental stimulation as you challenge yourself on a daily basis.
